Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the 3-day ceasefire proposal from Russia, calling it as a theatrical and rather suggests a truce of a month, according to the Ukrainian media.
“An unconditional ceasefire is the model proposed by the Americans. We follow this model. Whether it starts on this date or another-ideally earlier. Yes, let's try for 30 days. Why a 30-day ceasefire? Because it is impossible to conclude agreements in three, five or even seven days”
Russian President Vlamdimir Putin had proposed a cease-fire from May 7 to 9, when foreign representatives were invited to the annual parade of the Victory Day in Moscow. Zelenskyy said he would not be able to guarantee the safety of participants during the parade.
Drone strike exchange between Russia and Ukraine
In addition, at least 47 people were injured in Kharkiv after the Russian air strikes hit Ukraine late Friday, local officials.
Drones have damaged residential buildings, civil infrastructure and several vehicles.
After the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged stronger and more decisive support from the country's allies.
“While the world hesitates with decisions, almost every night in Ukraine is transformed into a nightmare, which costs lives. The needs in Ukraine have strengthened air defense. Strong and real decisions are necessary from our partners-the United States, Europe, all our partners who seek peace,” he wrote on X in the early hours of Saturday.
The Ukrainian Air Force said on Saturday that Russia had drawn 183 drones and explosive lures overnight. Among these, 77 were intercepted by Ukrainian defenses, while 73 others were lost, having probably been blocked electronically. The Air Force also reported that Russia had launched two ballistic missiles.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said its air defenses had shot 170 Ukrainian drones overnight. The ministry said eight cruise missiles and three guided missiles were also intercepted.
In southern Russia, four people were injured in a drone strike on the Port City of the Black Sea of Novorossiysk overnight, according to the governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev.
The latest wave of attacks comes after the United States and Ukraine signed an American access to Ukraine's vast mineral resources on Wednesday, finalizing months in matters of realization which could allow continuous military aid to Kyiv in the midst of concerns that President Donald Trump could assert support in the current peace negotiations with Russia.
