Eliot Friedman: “I know, I think, in the case of Tocchet, I think that many eyes will be on Philadelphia. You know, because he will have options. There is no question about this. I didn't tell him directly, but Jim Rutherford said he wanted him to have been a pretender in the face. There, that wouldn't seem to be that.
Rangers, I think Sullivan is the number one guy on their radar. But Philly, I think it's a lot, Boston is open, but Philly, I think it would be the one on which people would be grasping. I think the more it happened, the more I thought that Tocchet would leave. Rutherford spoke of personal reasons. And I don't know what it is, and I don't want to enter it, but I think it was an extremely disappointing year in Vancouver.
If you come back for a year, I don't think many people thought it would have happened like that. And even if you thought they would not have been such a good team, I don't know if you would have seen the whole drama take place as it did. And I just think he was exhausted. I think he had enough. And it was, he decided, once he sat down and he really thought about it, it was time to leave. And he did it.
So I think it is too early to say more, where Vancouver will go here. I am curious to see if they believe that Manny Malhotra, who trains his AHL team, is a competitor. And the other thing too is that they are somehow in an interesting place. Vancouver is in the sense that a large part of the number one, the best candidates, Rutherford again, said that Sullivan goes there.

If you look at some of the best names available, I think Sullivan would be a no for Vancouver. Tocchet obviously does not come back. (Joel) Quenneville, I don't think I am a candidate for Vancouver. You look at some of the best names that would be available, I don't think it's in Vancouver's wheelhouse. This does not mean that you cannot get a good coach, but I think their research could be a little more open than some others. »»
