Oh, Santa Fe. You won my heart as soon as I took a breath of gable wood in the air. Joe and I recently traveled to Santa Fe to celebrate our five -year birthday. I felt desperate to explore a new place and I had heard rumors here and there other designers who found the landscape, the art and the overall atmosphere of Santa fe being particularly restorative. Consider this list organized by the W & D collective community – I must thank Travis Ladue, Annika Kaplan and Brad Sucey for their recommendations. This list has a little something for everyone, but is particularly exciting for designers, photographers or anyone obsessed with vintage carpets, crystals and a little magical folklore of one of the oldest inhabited cities in the United States.
Where to eat
Upper crust pizza: BUT TOTALL THE READY! The crust was light and soft and although there is nothing new or innovative in menu items, we returned for a few seconds.
The hangar: A benchmark and a local institution! The hangar has existed since 1953 and located just in the city center of Santa Fe. The historic patio dates back to 1692 (!!!), when the King of Spain gave his property to Captain Diego Arais de Quiros as a means of saying “Hey, thank you” after conquered the territory (Yikes). Today, the benchmark is filled with sun and alive colored with greenery, roses and local plants; You will find it filled with premises and tourists by taking advantage of everything Santa Fe has to offer. Get the Red Enchiladas of Chile with a Margarita! If you are afraid of getting a table, go right when you open at 11 a.m.
Café Pasqual's:: We had an excellent breakfast here! It is always excited, so expect a little waiting – it is worth it.
Modern general: A nice general store meets a coffee, perfect for grasping a smoothie or pastries. You will find a selection of lavender soaps, kitchen utensils and coffee cups in this brilliant and friendly space. The food is healthy and the selection of goods for your home is without chemicals and has been wake with lasting materials.
Géronimo: Go here for dinner! It is super comfortable and located in a 300 -year -old Adobe. It is considered one of the best restaurants of all Santa Fe. We did not have the chance to dine here during our trip, but it is certainly on our list for the next time!
The compound: Another very popular restaurant in Santa Fe. The menu is inspired by the ingredients in the region with a south-west-metiterranée focus. One of the most popular menu elements is also the most affordable! The hamburger is incredible and if you do not have a reservation, you can start right when they open and be able to enjoy the bar menu.
Where to buy and what to buy
When you come to Santa Fe, leave room in your bag for the following: pine incense, textiles, carpets, vintage turquoise jewelry, crystals, baskets, natural lavender and local honey.
Rock:: The most incredible vintage and contemporary art, jewelry and house furniture that the city has to offer. Expert organized by Jed Foutz, the store is located in the Historical Santa Fe Plaza. Expect to have a pure feeling of Foutz's deep love for the collection of Amerindian art and textiles. It was one of my favorite stores, and I don't know all those who have a love for carpets, vintage jewelry and who want to connect and support Amerindian artists.
Santa fe vintage: Wow is all I can say !! I am so happy that we have made an appointment to examine this crazy collection of vintage clothes. From Vintage Levi's, cowboy boots, parkas, short -sided courtyards and thick norway wool sweaters, Scott Corey's eye of the owner of the shop that makes this collection massive so special. Vintage outpost of Santa Fe: If you don't have time to make an appointment with Scott, you can visit a smaller selection of vintage products in Santa Fe Vintage Outpost. There is an incredible selection of vintage jewelry organized by the co -owner Julienne Barth. Don't jump this store!
The rainbow man The Arc-en-Ciel man is a must in Santa Fe Plaza since 1945 and has an incredible collection of vintage and old turquoise jewelry, pottery and works of art created by local Amerindians. I loved the collection of textiles, which includes the Rio Grande, Chimayo and Early Mexican weaving in traditional models.
Mercantile red river: A guide to modern man to dress for the elements and look good in the process. We liked to discuss male fashion with the owner, Steven Traer, and we love his attention to details and belief by paying only brands that will serve his owner for decades to come.
The Railyard farmer market: A must for all those who visit the weekend! Samp up salsas and honey manufactured locally, browse stands of handmade products and enjoy a good cup of coffee from CafeLocated right next to it.
Santa Fe clay: Both an exhibition and artist studio, Santa Fe Clay presents art in experimental ceramic and hosts educational programs. The space is located in the heart of the historic district of Santa Fe, right next to the producer market.
Art and museums
Georgia O'Keeffe house: If you can catch up here, it's a really incredible visit to O'Keeffe's house in Abiquiú. The House and Historical Adobe Studio give you an idea of how it has experienced and worked. The house itself has inspired many paintings! The price is $ 40 per person. Lunch at Abiquú Inn!
Ghost: Register for one of the landscape tours on horseback! The location is incredible and the guides are wonderful. You can see where O'Keeffe sat down to paint and how innovative his perspective was when you attend the landscapes by yourself.
Georgia O'Keeffe Museum: This is located in Santa Fe and is an excellent stop after visiting the house of Ghost Ranch and O'Keeffe. The general entry is $ 13. Make sure you consult the calendar to see if there are fun events that take place that day.
International Museum of Folk Art:: I could have spent hours in the Alexander Gerard wing of this museum. I have always been really interested in folk art and what he tells us about how we live and the things we use in our environment. This exhibition amounts to having an overview of the world over centuries, stacked from each other. It is visually magnificent and deserves to be revisiting, again and again, in particular those who love the motif, the color and the history.
Miaou Loup: Meow Wolf is an immersive artistic experience created in an old bowling alley by an artists group in 2008. The objective is to transport the visitor to entirely new fields of existence through a scenario that you follow curiosity and discovery. Even if it does not seem to be your cup of tea, the creation of Meow Wolf himself is something that anyone who interests art would find intriguing. I found myself better understanding the nuances and the connection between the stories told and the artifacts in space and would say that the spectator gets what he put in the experience. You can simply enter and be delighted or steal an existential intrigue that invites you to question your own relationship with reality. In a city that thrives on traditional styles, Meow Wolf is an answer for artists looking for a more real representation of what it means to live and work in Santa Fe, well outside its reputation for perfect postcards.

10,000 Waves Spa: Note this as a must when you are at Santa Fe! Book a massage, stroll through the gardens, meditate, relax, enjoy the smells and sounds of the Southwest.
Where to stay
Court of kings: Located outside the city center of Santa Fe, El Rey Courtn is a converted motel both fashionable and affordable. You have probably seen it on the grams. The rooms have a few frills, but it's great for those of us with a budget, especially when there is so much to see and live outside!
5 graces hostel: If this trip is a special opportunity or if you have a big travel budget, a stay at the five -grace hostel is an absolute dream. We celebrate our 5th anniversary and the staff made our stay very special. The rooms are superimposed with patterned textiles, carpets, pillows and colored tiles from all over the world. It is a mixture of design sensitivities which is always decidedly from the Southwest. The most charming part of all experience could be the location. Installed in a historic adobe in one of the oldest inhabited streets in America, there is a feeling of magic that you feel when you stay in one of their rooms. Highly recommended for a memorable experience!
