Sometimes you just have to make a golf club who is the boss. Thursday at the Valspar championship in Innisbrook in Florida, Patton Kizzire decided that he was tired of his bald putter and gave him the boot. Literally.

Putters are generally not intended to be weighted and the kick has left a good bump in the club. Kizzire therefore had to finish the hole with a skillfully used corner:

Alas, it was not Kizzire's day. After taking three years in the first eight holes, he decided that he had enough for this particular tournament and withdrew, Quoting a back injury.

Admittedly, external rage exhibitions are generally frowned upon on links. But credit to Kizzire for having put a funny turn to the usual anger crisis. And no, we do not condemn him. Anyone who has already played golf wanted to launch a frustration club. The most relatable golf photo in history is not Jack which makes a putt at the Masters or Tiger kissing his father; It is Tommy Bolt who prepares to launch a club in oblivion:
Tommy Bolt knew how to treat an unworthy club.
It probably goes without saying, but seriously, do not try to kick a club to your own lesson. It is a terribly small target, and you are likely to shred the hamstrings or to kick your own face. People like Kizzire are very paid professionals. Let them do what they do.
The Valspar continues all weekend -without Kizzire -and four players, including Stephan Jaeger and Keith Mitchell, are currently sharing the head of the clubhouse at -4.
