Research, launched on Monday, comes in the middle of increasing concerns concerning the meetings of human rifles in the region, where the warm waters of a neighboring power plant attract dark sharks and sand banks between October and May.
Despite the conservation groups urging the authorities to separate swimmers and sharks, the warnings have largely ignored. The beach was closed while the research teams deployed boats and underwater equipment.
Shark attacks are rare in Israel, with only two previously recorded, a deadly in the 1940s.
During the Passover holidays, beach enthusiasts shared waters with sharks, some even filmed or seized on it.
