An unmanned spaiaplane sent to the earth orbit at the end of 2023 returned on Friday, landing at the base of the Vandenberg Space Force in California during the night, the Us Space Force said Friday.
The orbital test vehicle X-37B-7 was launched in the space by Falcon Heavy of SpaceX for a long-term classified military mission for the American space force on December 29, 2023, CBS News previously reported. It was in terrestrial orbit, or about 20,000 miles above the surface of the planet, for 434 days. The test vehicle had no crew.
The American spatial force said in a press release that the profession had “achieved a range of test and experimentation objectives intended to demonstrate the robust capacity of the X-37B maneuver while helping to characterize the spatial field through the test of experiences of technology of awareness of the space” in orbit. One of these objectives included the test of a new process called aerrobraking, which saw the job change to orbit in complete safety while using a minimum fuel, the spatial force said on social networks last month.
According to the press release. With space, an “increasingly congestioned and disputed environment”, knowledge of surrounding environments is “for the benefit of all users,” said spatial force.
The craftsmanship successfully landed at the base of Vandenberg Space Force at 2:22 a.m., or 11:22 p.m. local time. The landing has tested the capacity of the crafts to get back on several sites, said spatial force.

The director of the X-37B program, Lieutenant-Colonel Blaine Stewart, said that successful craft operations “wrote a new exciting chapter” and mark an “important step in the continuous development of the dynamic mission capacity of the American spatial force”.
Spatial force has access to two X-37B craftsmanship. Crafts, built by Boeing, is designed to help test the planeic and advanced sensors, assess reusable spaceship components and provide a platform for experiences that can be analyzed on Earth. Space plans include delta wings, thermal shield tiles and a compat payload bay, and are powered by an expandable solar network that allows extremely long flights.
