Emma Navarro started her again.
Navarro was held at the end of Sunday afternoon and took advantage of a Coco Gauff in difficulty to eliminate the US Open title champion at the Arthur Ashe stadium. After Gauff was held at the start of his match, Navarro flew in front of winning a dominant victory in the first set and seizing the advantage. Navarro jumped 4-2 in the first after a chain of double defects for Gauff before closing the first set 6-3.
Navarro also stood strong to start the second set. She put forward 4-3 after claiming three consecutive points to obtain the break, which did it at the dawn of a berth in the quarterfinals.
Finally, however, Gauff came to life. She equaled the implementation after Navarro lost a double fault, then she won 12 of the 15 points for the same match and forced a third set.
Navarro, however, obtained the break at the start of the final set, however, after Gauff resumed his 12th afternoon. Navarro eliminated Gauff in the fourth round in Wimbledon earlier this summer, although it was eliminated from the London quarter -finals by the Jasmine Paolini of Italy.
Gauff must have rally to make the Sunday match against Navarro. She returned to beat Elina Svitolina after losing 11 points in a row in the first set of their match on Friday. Her victory there marked his 12th victory in the match in a big home after abandoning an opening set since she made her debut in 2019 and her 60th major victory before her 21st birthday, which is something that only five other American women did.
Navarro will now face Paula Badosa from Spain in the quarterfinals. Badosa exceeded the Yafan Wang of China 6-1, 6-2 in his fourth round match earlier on Sunday.
