Manchester Arndale continued to see strong growth from retailers as it announced that PURESEOUL and Emma Sleep have both signed leases to occupy spaces in the centre.

PURESEOUL, the fast-growing Korean beauty chain, will occupy a 158 sqm space after signing a 10-year lease, while Emma Sleep, the award-winning mattress company, has signed a 5-year lease for a 160 sqm space.

PURESEOUL, which started life as an online store in the summer of 2019, has grown to sell thousands of beauty and skincare products from some of South Korea’s biggest makeup brands. The retailer recently pivoted from a purely online business to opening stores in London and Oxford, but this latest opening will be PURESEOUL’s first physical store outside of the South East of England.

Emma, which also started as an online business, specialises in expertly created mattresses that aim to improve sleep quality, through intensive research and testing. Now one of the UK’s best-selling mattress brands, Emma has opened its first Emma Sleep showroom in Stratford, London, allowing customers to book a personal product consultation and explore its mattress range. This will also be Emma’s first UK store outside of London and shoppers in Manchester will be able to discover their exclusive Select range, available only in physical stores.

The arrival of these two new retailers follows a series of lease renewals and redevelopments at Manchester Arndale. Popular brands such as Costa Coffee, Ann Summers, New Look, Swarovski and Kiko Milano have all signed new leases reaffirming their commitment to the centre.

Scott Linard, Portfolio Manager for M&G Real Estate, said: “It’s great to see two more fast-growing brands choose Manchester Arndale as their first location outside of London. Following in the footsteps of Trailberg and Represent, Manchester Arndale is proving to be an ideal location for fashion brands to showcase their products in a physical retail environment. Our large visitor base allows these brands to access a diverse mix of customers who are always keen to try our exciting new brands which offer a different type of shopping experience. Alongside these two new arrivals, we are pleased to see some of our most popular brands recommitting their future to the centre as it demonstrates the confidence they have in Manchester Arndale.”

Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, added: “Emma Sleep and PURESEOUL are two exciting brands that we are delighted to welcome to Manchester Arndale. Having a diverse mix of new and established retailers allows us to attract a wide range of customers, ensuring high footfall throughout the year. That’s why it’s also important to secure new leases with some of our most popular retailers. Our excellent tenant mix at Manchester Arndale helps to attract even more brands looking to either expand their presence in Manchester or set up shop in the city for the first time, and we look forward to welcoming more exciting names over the coming months.”

M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual are acting as joint asset managers for Manchester Arndale and New Cathedral Street while Metis Real Estate and Time Retail Partners are the retained letting agents for the centre, with Green & Partners as retained lettings advisory agents.
