US President Donald Trump promised to request the responsibility of those who pursued legal affairs against him when he was not in office, speaking on Friday at the Ministry of Justice.
“Our predecessors have transformed this Ministry of Justice into a ministry of injustice. But I am before you today to declare that these days are over, and they will never come back. They will never come back,” said Trump.
During its years of exit, the department charged Trump twice for having illegally kept classified documents in his succession of Florida and that he worked to cancel the results of the 2020 presidential election. The two cases were rejected after Trump won the elections in November, the ministry citing a long -standing policy not to pursue a president in office.
“Now, as a chief officer of the application of laws in our country, I will insist and demand a complete and complete responsibility for the wrongs and the abuses that have occurred. The American people have given us a mandate, a mandate as few people thought possible,” said Trump.
Trump dismissed prosecutors who investigated him during the Biden administration and examined thousands of FBI agents who investigated some supporters of the president who stormed the American Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Representative Jamie Raskin, the principal democrat of the Chamber's judicial committee, described Trump's speech as “stunning violation of (the) traditional border between the application of the independent criminal law and presidential political power”.
Speaking outside the judge shortly after Trump spoke, Raskin said: “No other president of American history has held the Ministry of Justice to proclaim a program of criminal proceedings and reprisals against his political enemies.”
Trump has long criticized the department and the FBI. He installed political allies in the main management positions of these two agencies. FBI director Kash Patel, and Attorney General Pam Bondi attended the Friday conference.
By presenting Trump, Bondi said: “We all work for the biggest president in the history of our country. … He will never stop fighting for us, and we will never stop fighting for him and for our country.”
During his speech, Trump promised “historical reforms” in agencies and said: “Under the Trump administration, the DOJ and the FBI will again become the main agencies to combat crime on the face of the earth”.
His speech echoes his campaign rallies, with music that escaped speakers before Trump entered the great hall of the department and his address striking some of the main themes of his campaign, including border security and the fight against violent crimes.
On crime, Trump said homicides, property crime and theft increased during Biden administration.
“I have no higher mission as President of the United States to put an end to this murder and prevent this law from hiding and making America again safe. And that is what you are in this room. We want to protect the Americans, and we protect all those who are in our country,” he said.
