William Tyler grew up in the Nashville song machine. In 1982, when the guitarist was a young child, his parents co-written the successful single “Bobbie Sue” for the veteran group the Oak Ridge Boys. His father also wrote the success of Leann Rimes in 1997 “The Light in Your Eyes”. His folk message on the fact of remaining positive in the middle of the lifestyles was initially written by Tyler Sr as advice to his son.
The young Tyler has since established himself as a notable musician in its own right. He found his feet on the other side of the musical songs, playing the guitar in the group of Nashville Alt-Country Lambchop and Cult Indie Act Silver Jewds. His solo albums are instrumental cases rooted in Americaa but with a prodigal reference range. 2013 psychedelic folk-rock Impossible Truth was inspired by the Californian impulses combined with utopia and apocalypse. SA Percée 2016 Modern country Acoustic guitar combined with the tones of synthesizer of cosmic music from the 1970s.
Indefinite time bears the name of a film by an autobiographical documentary Ross MCELWEE. Tyler's guitar game is clearer than usual. It is integrated into computerized textures and curls, such as a ghost in the machine. The sound of the album, but immersive, follows Tyler's collaboration with the electronic musician Kieran Hebden, alias Four Tet, on a double single 2023. It also results from a feeling of crisis and last chances, the emerging understanding that time is not really indefinite.
“Cabin Six” opens with abrasive clamping rhythms, like a close -up of helicopter rotor blades, which give way to strange keyboards and to the sorry sound that blows on an empty ground. Tyler's rooftop is not apparent before the next song, “Concern”, in which a nicely simple guitar melody passes through a clever electronic sound landscape. “Electric Lake” sparkles like a mirage while a statistical voice and echo delivers the indecipherable message of a strange dream. “Star of Hope” has samples of choral vocalizations without lyrics and a slowdown hymn guitar, as if she grabbed a fog for the reassuring world of “The Light in your Eyes”, the song that Tyler's father wrote for him when he was a child.
