Swedish police said three people had been confirmed dead after a ball attack took place in Uppsala, a city near the capital Stockholm on Tuesday, and investigating the incident as murder.
The Swedish media reported that a manhunt to locate the attacker was underway. Eye witnesses say that the shooter would have fled the scene of the attack on an electric scooter.
The police said in a statement that they had received calls from public members who said they had heard noisy fringes reminiscent of the shots in the center of Uppsala, a university city north of Stockholm, the capital.
Photos of the scene showed that the police in front of a hair salon called “Shalom”.
A large area was completed by the police when she launched an investigation.
The local resident Nina said she felt “uncomfortable” because the attack occurred in a residential area right next to where she lives, in an area where children play frequently.
“I find it uncomfortable, because I mean especially when, you know, we pass by this one. I picked up my partner just before missing here. We live next to it and I think there are children and young people in these areas. I find it very uncomfortable,” said Nina.
There was no immediate indication of the reason, and the police declaration did not provide details on an alleged perpetrator.
Sweden has faced the violence of gangs for years, which has resulted in frequent fire and bombing attacks.
