Since palisade fires broke out on January 7, he burned nearly 24,000 acres by the Pacific palisades and several districts along the Pacific Coast road. Many of these hectares were populated by houses and other popular hiking trails in the mountains of Santa Monica. The firefighters continue to progress in the extinguishing of the fire of the Palisades, which was contained at 63% Tuesday afternoon.
But it will take months to take into account the scale and the scope of the damage it has caused. Although there is not yet a clear verdict on how the palisades fires started, it may have been somewhere Near Skull Rock.
To set up a better image of devastation, I compiled a list of assigned trails, determined via the Caltopo mapping tool. By referencing its cards and fire fingerprints in a crossed way with local hiking trails, I determined which routes were in the burning area. That said, it is not because a path is in the burning area that it was completely destroyed. We will learn more about the specific conditions of each trail in the coming months, as well as when the trails may start reopening.
