Seoul: The Minister of Finance of South Korea, Choi Sang-Mok, resigned Thursday, May 1 and he was accepted, said his ministry in a statement, because the parliament of the country voted on his indictment.
“Choi’s resignation has been accepted,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
Choi was to assume the acting presidency at midnight at midnight Thursday with the acting president, Han Duck-SO, should officially resign, in what many considered a decision to launch a presidential offer before an anti-instant election next month.
“I apologize for leaving my post, because it has become difficult to continue to fulfill my functions in the middle of the serious economic circumstances in the country and abroad,” said Choi in a statement published by the Ministry of Finance.
