Seoul: The South Korean city of Daegu ordered more than 1,200 inhabitants to evacuate on Monday, April 28, after strong winds whipped a forest fire and prompted the closure of a highway in the region due to concerns about the fire.
Forest fire started around 2 p.m. (1 p.m., Singapore time) and affected around 50 hectares in less than two hours due to dry and constant conditions, Korea Forest Service said in a statement.
No victim had been reported so far due to the fire around Daegu, which is about 233 km south-east of the capital Seoul.
