Singapore: A Singaporean man was charged with Johor Tuesday, May 6 for traffic and having more than 10 kg of drugs.
Tan Ban Choon, 47, was accused of a traffic leader of 10.024 kg of 3.4-methylènenedioxmethampehetamine in powder (MDMA), Malaysian media, citing legal documents, reported. The MDMA is commonly known as Ecstasy.
Tan, which is unemployed, has also been accused of four chiefs of drug possession – namely 9 g of heroin, 44 g of cannabis, 6 g of MDMA powder and 31.3 g of ketamine.
He would have committed offenses in an apartment in Danga Bay on April 23 at 10 p.m.
If it is found guilty of traffic, Tan faces the death penalty or a perpetuity imprisonment and no less than 15 strokes of the cane.
If he is found guilty of possession, Tan could be imprisoned up to five years, sentenced to a fine of up to 100,000 RM (US $ 23,677) or both.
It is also charged under article 6 of the dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which restricts the possession of raw opium, coca, poppy leaves and cannabis. He faces two to five years in prison and three to nine strokes of the cane, if he is found guilty.
Tan, who was charged in the Johor's sessions court, had no lawyer and did not receive a deposit. He nodded after the accusations read him in Mandarin before judge Mohammad Khalid Ab Karim.
No plea was removed from him because the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court, reported the News Mail News speech.
His case will be heard again on July 29 while waiting for a chemical report.
