Singapore: A Singapore company was taken in a controversy in Malaysia on a video that would have shown the flag of Malaysia without the Moon Crescent, which represents Islam as the religion of the Federation.
Malaysia Minister for Malaysia, Fahmi Fadzil, said on Sunday (April 20) that at least five police reports were published on the video projected by an exhibitor during an event in a Kuala Lumpur shopping center, local media reported.
The incident would have involved a promotional video of Singapore Lacation Bakes, which was played on a screen at the TCE Baby Exo which was held at the Mid Valley Exhibition Center in Kuala Lumpur since Thursday.
The organizer of the TCE Baby Expo said that he had closed the exhibitor stand and deleted the video after the problem was revealed, Malay Mail reported.
“As far as I know, at least five reports have been tabled,” said Fahmi, quoted by the media Free Malaysia Today.
“We leave the police to the police to investigate the question thoroughly. If they find reprehensible acts, we urge strict measures.
“Firm measures are necessary because the Jalur Gemilang is a symbol of our national pride and our sovereignty – it should not be taken lightly,” added Fahmi, referring to the Malaysian national flag.
Singapore lactation Bakes – which sells lactation cookies, among others – apologized on Saturday.
“We would like to express our deepest and sincere apologies concerning serious monitoring in our introductory launch video for SLB Malaysia,” he said in a statement published on his social media accounts.
“We recognize the deep meaning of the national flag as a symbol of the identity, heritage and unity of Malaysia. It has never been our intention to cause an offense or a lack of respect.
“It was a regrettable and involuntary error made during the creative process, and we assume full responsibility for the error.”
