Friday evening, a small plane crashed in a Nebraska river, killing the three passengers, according to the authorities.
The plane crashed into the Platte river south of Fremont – or about 40 miles northwest of Omaha – according to a press release from the Dodge County Sheriff. The bodies of three occupants of the plane were recovered but not yet identified publicly, said the sheriff's office.
The authorities added that the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have resumed the investigation.
Jennifer Gabris, spokesperson for the NTSB, said in a statement that an NTSB investigator should arrive on the scene this afternoon.
“Once there, the investigator will start the scene documentation process and examine the plane,” she said. “The plane will then be recovered in a secure installation for a more in -depth assessment.”
She added that during the scene of the investigation process, “the NTSB does not determine or speculate on the cause of the accident” and that a preliminary report with more information will be available within 30 days.
A FAA spokesperson confirmed the accident in an email and said the NTSB would be in charge of the investigation.
