According to the Perseverance team, St. Paul's Bay is a “floating” rock-that is to say a rock that should not exist in this place. But what created this rocky training on Mars, and how it was in this region, remains unknown. This rock seems to be composed of round and round gray and dark gray stones of several hundred millimeters. The shapes of these small round stones vary: some are in the shape of an oval, some have lively edges and some have small holes.

These Spherules are concretions—The formations created by groundwater moving through the pores in a rock, which suggests that there could once be abundant liquid water on Mars. However, on earth, these spherules are also created when the melted rock cools quickly, for example after a volcanic eruption. The Sciences of Perseverance Sciences Survey on the origin of the small round stones that make up the Bay of St. Paul. It is possible that they are derived from a band of rocky formation of dark color observed nearby.
