Portland, Ore. (COIN)) – A kayaker who disappeared during the weekend near Willamette Falls in the city of Oregon was identified while the research continues to recover his body, the authorities said.
Marcelus Angelo Rodriguez's family, 20, said in a statement that they are “really devastated” after learning this “tragic event”.

Rodriguez is to Porterville, California, and disappeared on the Willamette river In Oregon City, on April 12, the Sheriff's Bureau of the County Clackamas said.
“The investigators learned that Marcelus and his family were on vacation and arrived in the region on Saturday evening. Marcelus was seen for the last time kayak in the region and may not know that the falls were there,” the sheriff's office said in a press release.
Shortly after several appellants from the 911 reported a kayaker in distress just upstream of the falls at the end of Saturday, April 12, “witnesses said that the individual, a lonely adult man, was seen over the falls and did not resurface,” said officials.

Despite an “extended” research effort involving several agencies – including a helicopter in the American coast guard and a fixed wing plane of the Portland – Marcelus police office was not located. However, research along the river continues to locate it and “closure of the Marcelus family” thanks to the use of the marine unit of the clackamas bureau, the authorities said.
Marcelus Rodriguez's family published the following statement:
“We, the family of Marcelus Angelo Rodriguez, are really devastated by the tragic event which took place last Saturday in the Willamette Falls region, and we do not wish this experience to anyone. Our family does everything possible to heal and accept our loss.
“”We would first like to warn others to be always aware of their environment and never enter this river without wearing a life jacket or, at the very least, to exercise extreme caution, because the forces of nature can quickly become overwhelming and fatal.
“”We express our sincere gratitude to the teams of the first stakeholders who rushed to us and continue to search for our boy. We also thank the residents and the water fishermen who were vigilant and useful during this difficult period. The Sheriff's Bureau of the County Clackamas has treated us with care and compassion, and we are eternally grateful for their efforts.
“”Marcelus loved God, his family and nature. We hope that this tragic accident can be avoided in the future for other families. May God monitor Marcelus and always bless him.
