Putrajaya: The Malaysia Ministry of Health was criticized for organizing an apparently extravagant event in Hari Raya on Tuesday, April 22 in the midst of the challenges faced by health workers who would have underpaid and overworked.
Malaysian veterans singers like Siti Nurhaliza and Jamal Abdillah played the celebration of Aidilfitri 2025 Hari Raya, which Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended.
In the wake of the reaction, Siti Nurhaliza said on Instagram that she had played for free, while the Minister of Health, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, said that he appreciated the concerns raised and recognized that “the criticism received was right”.
“Whether this is a reminder for everyone. We will continue to work to solve systemic problems for our health workers,” he said in an article on X.
Without appointing the singer, Dzulkefly said that one of them had made without any payment to honor the Prime Minister as well as the health workers “of the headquarters”.
These workers, he said, understood guests from other agencies, ministries, universities and the private sector who were part of the country's health system.
The event was criticized on social networks by numerous health workers, including the group of contract doctors, Hartal Doktor Kontrak, who described it as “deaf” in the face of the difficulties of the health care sector.
“Our OT allocation (in overtime) is super weak, the statements are rejected all the time, (some) equipment cannot be purchased due to the lack of funding, but at least the department of the ministry can have fun with famous artists,” famous artists who obtained more than 5,400 likes and 2,700 comments said on Wednesday.
“It is discouraging to attend the front -line health agents of Malaysia struggling with unpaid appeal complaints, a severe court -court and on perilous working conditions while the Ministry of Health chooses to organize a sumptuous Hari Raya concert with celebrities,” the concert of Setizen @ksampoh published on Wednesday.
