Atlantic City, NJ (AP) – A man cannot buy nearly $ 60,000 in chips in a casino now disabled that he bought during an online auction because they were “pounded” by an employee of a company who was supposed to destroy them, a New Jersey call group judged.
The man attempted to collect the 389 chips in January 2023 with the non -claimed real estate administration of the Department of the Treasury of the State, which was responsible for the coverage of the buyout value of exceptional tokens, the Playboy Hotel and Casino had delivered to customers during operations from 1981 to 1984.
The man told the UPA that he had bought the fleas – which were worth $ 59,500 – during an online auction and did not know their source. Police from the state of New Jersey finally determined that the Casino had hired a company that was supposed to destroy the fleas after its closure, but a former employee of this company “had piloted several unused flea boxes” around 1990 and placed them in a bank deposit box, noted the panel of call.
The ex-employee told authorities that he then declared bankruptcy and forgot the bank deposit box. The bank where the fleas were stored opened the box in 2010 and confiscated the fleas, finally sending them to the auction house from which Hawkins bought them.
The UPA rejected man's complaint in June 2023, noting that the fleas had not been issued to customers in the normal course of casino operations.
The man appealed the decision, stating in part that the UPA had relied on insufficient evidence and had acted in an arbitrary and capricious manner, but in his decision issued on April 1, the Court of Appeal declared that the man had not entitled to the funds because he had not presented chips which had been issued by the casino.
