Managers of the city of Los Angeles seek to protect certain tenants from the expulsion following fires who ravaged the region and destroyed thousands of houses.
During a vote of 15-0 Tuesday, the members of the Los Angeles municipal council ordered the city's prosecutor to write a prescription which, for a year, would prevent the evictions from having additional occupants or unauthorized pets who were “necessary” by fires.
The member of the Traci Park council, whose district includes the serious Pacific palisadesproposed the rules in a request that noted: “Some people affected and their pets are currently with friends and family in rental properties that may not allow pet or additional people under current leases.”
Once the city's prosecutor has written the order, he returns to the Council for final approval.
Under the rules, the tenants should inform their owner within 30 days of the order which takes effect on any animal or unauthorized persons who remain with them because of the palisades, Eaton or other January fire.
Some officials want to go further, citing parties that some owners increase rent beyond what pricing The protections allow.
Consulting Euniss Hernandez and Hugo Soto-Martinez have submitted a motion that seeks to prohibit expulsions for the non-payment of to rent out If the tenants face economic or medical difficulties of fires and to implement an “increase in rents for all residential rental units until January 31, 2026”.
The two actions are similar to the rules implemented during the COVVI-19 pandemic and have aroused concerns of the groups of owners.
