The International Olympic Committee approved several additions to the Olympic program for the Los Angeles 2028 games on Wednesday, including more women's Los Angeles in Football and Water-Polo and new swimming events and other sports.
The women's football tournament will go from 12 teams to 16, which makes it larger than the male tournament for the first time in Olympic history. The male tournament – which concerns players under 23, with three exceptions per team – will be reduced from 16 to 12 teams.

The women's water polo will also go from 10 teams to 12, even shooting with the number of teams in the male draw.
In swimming, the Olympic “splash and dash” will no longer be only for freestylers. The IOC adds 50 meters events for men and women in the back, breaststroke and butterfly.
After making his debut at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and continuing in Paris, 3X3 basketball will also go from eight teams to 12 for men and women.

To the, the organizers plan to build a swimming pool at the Sofi stadium, which houses the RAMS and chargeers of the NFL, to host swimming events. Traditionally, part of the opening week of the competition, swimming will pass with a track and fields and will go to the second week in 2028 because the stadium also hosts the opening ceremony.
