The founder of the World League of La Mondiale, Darren Owen, promised to “continue to advance” Wednesday after the cancellation of the first events for the MMA organization, based in team.

In the comments provided to Ariel Helwani of UNCROWED, Owen said that “GFL's main investor did not fulfill his April obligation”, which caused a problem which finally led to the cancellation of the two planned launch events of the promotion on May 24 to 25. Owen said the dates can still be postponed from June 15 to 16 and added that “it was a frustrating week, but I think there is a solution in place”.

Owens' complete remarks can be read below.

“Work on a solution. My main investor has not fulfilled his obligation in April which caused a problem. I will keep you posted, but I think we can work there. I think we can get there for June.

“In addition, I do not plan the event that takes place in California, but we will continue to move forward.

“I think we are going to have to push the dates until June 15/16. I will confirm as soon as possible. It was a frustrating week but I think there is a solution in place.”

The planned launch of GFL in its first season was initially to take place with a program of two days and 31 fights at the Los Angeles sanctuary. Double head events were to present 42 UFC veterans and nine former UFC / Bellator champions (including temporary champions).

Although the GFL's immediate future remains uncertain, Wednesday's cancellations have sparked a flood of comments from combatants, coaches and managers within the MMA community, some of which can be read below.
