Beijing: An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck Tibet early on Monday, May 12, said China Earthquake Administration (CEA).
The earthquake hit the city of Shigatse at 5:11 a.m. local time at a depth of 10 km.
The authorities have sent emergency intervention services and no victim has been reported so far, said CEA.
In January, more than 120 people died in an earthquake of 6.8 coarse that struck the County of Tingri of Tibet, about 240 km from Shigatse.
