The turbines extract the energy from the wind, slowing down the wind in their wake

Imagine that you have just built a beautiful new house with a breathtaking view of certain neighboring mountains. But, in a few months, someone else begins to build a house right in front of yours, blocking your sight. A neighborhood dispute seems inevitable.
A similar scenario takes place through northern Europe with the rapid development of new offshore wind farms. While the seabed becomes more and more congested with new turbines, the developers fear that the new wind farms can “steal” the wind at existing sites.
