Shaftesbury Capital announced that the concept of renowned heritage, Songhelou, opened its very first restaurant outside China, in Chinatown London.
Extending 3,600 square feet at 22 Wardour Street, on three floors and with 144 covers, the international beginnings of Songhelou in Chinatown London allow visitors to choose from a range of soup noodle dishes, which have been popular in China for centuries. Customers can select from a range of toppings that include mild and sour bars in the shape of SUZHOU style braised pork, slices of pounding eel in oil and sautéed crab frisitions and crab eggs.
The space itself was designed to reflect the tranquility of the aquatic cities of Suzhou, incorporating natural materials such as bamboo, gray stone and ancient copper. The concept was founded in the Qianlong era of the Qing dynasty, and brings with it an authentic culinary heritage which is from Jiangnan in eastern China. Songhelou is officially recognized as a “secular Chinese brand” by the Chinese government and is renowned for its Suzhou style noodles.
Emma Matus, manager of the rental of restaurants in Shaftesbury Capital, commented: “Chinatown London is a window in the Far East, a destination to enjoy a collective of kitchens which cannot be found anywhere else outside the East and Southeast Asia. Cut into history and an essential from China, Songhelou is an exceptional addition to Chinatown London, embodying the traditional experience that this destination will always be renowned for. ”.
Mr. Pan, president of Songhelou, added: “As the first steps of Songhelou outside of China since the design in 1757, it was extremely important for us to associate with a place which appreciated and defended the history and the traditions that the brand embodies, with a well -informed customer base. Take visitors to the Culinary Travel of the streets of Soho to Jiangnan, offering an authentic oriental gastronomic experience. »»
