The suspect in the case of a young man who was murdered inside a mosque in the south of France was repatriated from Italy on Friday.
The suspect – called by the French media like Olivier A. – is a French national born in 2004.
It was transferred from Florence to a courthouse in the southern city of Nîmes, according to the media.
Upon arrival, he should appear in front of the magistrate conducting the investigation to present his version of the events.
He would have faced a possible accusation act for “the murder aggravated by the premeditation and the circumstances of commission because of the race or the religion” and “elude the search or the arrest”.
Before going back to the Italian authorities – for the murder of a 22 -year -old Malian man named Aboubakar Cissé – the suspect spent three days on the run.
Cissé was attacked and stabbed dozens of times as he prayed in a mosque in the ancient mining town of Grand-Combe in the south of France.
Olivier A. – Who lived in the region and who would not have a criminal record – filmed the murder, which he then published on Snapchat.
The murder of Cissé has sparked a fiery debate in France in recent weeks, while government representatives have been criticized for not having initially treated the incident as a crime of hatred or showing the degree of concern they have had in other deadly attacks.
