Global economic turbulence does not shake the determination of Europeans to travel this summer.
A new study on consumers with 20 European countries has revealed that the vast majority (70%) – does not hold back on leisure spending and plans to check at least an experience in their bucket list.
Travel and tourism are the most important activities for 89% of experienced experiences. In addition, 32% of them say they are ready to spend more than € 1,000.
Gen Z and men more inclined to vacation expenses
According to the MasterCard report, generation Z is the most hedonistic generation.
Almost half of the respondents (48%) in this age group (approximately 13 to 28) plan to check two or more buckets list activities.
They say they are going to finance them by saving money on the pastime, purchases of weekly food and even transport costs.
At the same time, while women are more likely to focus on a major bucket list experience (34%), men seem more inclined to plan at least two buckets of buckets (40%).
What do Europeans reduce to save for summer?
In general, many Europeans will try to save instead of making follies on luxury: forty percent will reduce clothes, 38% on luxury treats and 32% on gadgets.
Natalia Lechmanova, chief economist Europe at the Mastercard Economics Institute, affirms that “European consumers resume confidence and increase discretionary expenses, with experiences remaining a key priority”.
“The stabilization of inflation and the improvement of purchasing power allow more people to invest in significant moments.”
What pushes Europeans to seek new experiences?
The study indicates that Europeans are mainly motivated by the desire to create memories for life (44%), as well as to see the world in a “brand new way” (36%) and to share experiences with their loved ones (33%).
According to research, Romanians (88%), posts (87%) and Serbs (86%) are the most eager to realize their dreams of buckets in 2025.
