Sri Lanka promises closer links with the left and left of India
Colombo: The Government of Sri Lanka promised closer links Thursday May 1 with communist parties in China and India, two regional powers in competition for influence in the small but strategically important.

The left -wing government of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake organized its first May -May rally with special guests from the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and Communist parties in India.

CCP official Peng Xiubin told Mass Rally in Colombo that his party had worked closely with Dissanayake JVP, or people's liberation front.

“We will make China-Sri Lanka relations even stronger,” said the Chinese official.

JVP secretary general Tilvin Silva said that he hoped that cooperation with China would help treat rural poverty.

“China has done a huge job in this area and we want to get their expertise,” said Silva.

Ar Sindhu, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which governs the Indian State of Kerala, said that they were inspired by the rapid rise of the JVP in power.

“We proudly tell the people that, yes, the Kerala will follow the Sri Lankan path. Not only will the Kerala, the whole India will follow the Sri Lankan path,” said Sindhu.
