Seoul: South Korean prosecutors charged former president Moon Jae-in for his alleged corruption, a spokesman for the indictment, in a case linked to the appointment of his former son-in-law in a Thai airline.
Moon was charged for corruption, while former Lee Sang-Jik legislator was charged with corruption and confidence violation, the Jeonju district office said in a statement.
The prosecutors had investigated to find out if the appointment of Lee as head of an SME and startup agency was in exchange for the former Moon son -in -law to obtain a job and receive a salary in the Thai company that Lee controlled in 2018 to 2020, according to the press release.
The accusation allegedly alleged that the son-in-law of the salary moon had received as an executive director was irregular and constituted a bridge pot to the president of the time.
Moon, Lee and their legal representatives could not be reached immediately to comment.
