Pakistan must find its calibrated response
There is no doubt that Pakistan will respond to the strikes of India with a certain form of military action. However, he will have to calibrate this in a way that does not degenerate tensions beyond a point.
Such rhetoric and action should however be considered attempts to increase the development that other countries put pressure on India to reduce its response and reassess its position on the sharing of river water.
It should also be noted that tensions with India and strikes have led to support for support for the military across Pakistan. The army, which plays a major role in the country's policy, had been faced with mass demonstrations and an opposition in recent years for interference in the political process.
The current crisis has reduced these demonstrations. Thus, while the military will have to display its ability to respond to attacks, it will be aware of not endangering its new support by increasing military tensions beyond a point that the public can bear.
