Twenty -one years after Smarty Jones won Kentucky Derby and Preakness, the chestnut was elected to the National Museum of Racing and the renowned temple.
The fame of fame announced that he was the only candidate in the contemporary category to appear on the majority of ballots, with 50% plus a vote required for the election. It was his first year on the ballot.
Raised in Pennsylvania, Smarty Jones won eight of the nine career starts and won the Eclipse Prize for 3 -year -old men in 2004.
