If there was never a place for Scottie Scheffler to run away with a tournament and win his first victory of the season, it was at TPC Craig Ranch.
The best classified golfer in the world has exploded the rest of the field this week to win the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, his hometown event, which marked his first 2025 victory. Scheffler, after having entered the final round with an eight -blow historical advance, reached 31 years for the week after his final 63.
“This tournament means a lot for me,” said Scheffler on CBS while getting emotional by holding his son. “This is my first departure as a pro, 11 years ago, I had my sister Cadding for me … It's like a hard work life and sacrifice for small moments like these. They are quite special.”

Scheffler, who made his debut at the PGA Tour at Byron Nelson in 2014, while he was a 17 -year -old lover, is now the first high school golfer in the Dallas region to win the tournament since 2007. He is the third person to make thread during the event, and the first since 2007.
Scheffler opened the week with a 10 sous 61, which he closed with consecutive birdies after publishing a 29 on his first nine. He then supported this gathering with an 8-me of 63 Friday, which gave him a record advance of six strokes at halfway. He was without Bogey at that time and was just a stroke of the score record of 36 holes on the tour.
While Scheffler's game has slowed down in the back half of the event, no one almost caught it. He pulled a 5-mine of 66 on Saturday and compensated for his first two Bogeys from the tournament with a huge finish which included three birdies in his last five holes. This gave him an eight -blow advance, which was the biggest advance of 54 holes in the Tour since 2011.
Sunday was then essentially a formality. Scheffler drove to victory without any problem. He even pushed his lead to a 10-ridiculous shots very briefly at some point after having made an easy eagle to the ninth per-5 of a Fairway bunker.
Scheffler made three other birdies after that, and he stuck the 17th par -3 after making a very relatable error trying to go up on the green, to close his 62 and win the victory – which earned him a check for 1.782 million dollars. He had a shot at the record of all time on the tour on the 18th Green too, but he barely missed his last putt and had to settle with a peer. He is now only the third golfer in the history of the tour, with Justin Thomas and Ludvig Åberg, to draw a 253.

Erik Van Rooyen finished alone in the second with 23 under the week. Sam Stevens jumped in third row with his 7 sous 64. He marked his lowest round of the season and his best finish of the year. He has not won since the RBC inheritance in 2022.
“What he did was inspiring, I mean, it was not so long since I was definitely better than him, and now I'm certainly not right now,” said Spieth about Scheffler. “I hate admitting that for anyone, but I just looked at him in these first two laps, and as I have to improve. It is very inspiring.”
Scheffler won incredible seven times on tour last season, especially at the Masters, the players' championship and the season tour championship. Although he has kept the first place in the official classification of the world golf course, Scheffler entered this week without a victory in 2025. After a delayed start to the season after a manual procedure which stems from a kitchen incident at Christmas, Scheffler made each cup in nine departures and experienced five top 10 before this week. His worst finish was actually a T25 race at the WM Phoenix open. He finished T3 at Genesis Invitational and second in Texas Children's Houston Open too.
But finally, after a rare break for him, Scheffler sealed the agreement and won what is now his 14th career victory.
