Trump is back on the optimism of the peace agreement
The same day, US President Donald Trump said he doubts Putin wanted to end the three -year war in Ukraine, expressing a new skepticism about the prospects for a peace agreement. One day earlier, Trump said Ukraine and Russia were “very close to an agreement”.
“There was no reason why Putin pulled missiles in civil, cities and cities, in recent days,” said Trump on social networks, returning to the United States after having attended the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican, where he briefly met the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump also referred to new sanctions against Russia.
Their meeting on the sidelines of the funeral was the first face -to -face meeting between the two leaders since a stormy argument at the White House in February.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that the air defenses had shot down five Ukrainian drones in the Bryansk border region, as well as three drones during the Crimean Peninsula, which was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014.
In occupied Donetsk, the mayor of Horlivka said five people had been injured by Ukrainian bombing.
