The American president with Donald Trump struck the first 100 days of his second term with the drop in employment approval ratings in a range of demographic and supporters. In fact, its approval rating is the lowest decades for a president at this stage of their mandate.
Trump does not draw the confidence of a majority of Americans for his management of a major problem, while his note on the economy is at its lowest point in the 2019 surveys.
However, there is a basic nucleus of Trump which continues to stand out in their support for him, according to a new investigation by the Pew Research Center: Evangelical Christians.
72% approve how Trump currently manages his work as president, 69% assess the ethics of senior officials of the Trumps as excellent or good, and 57% say they have confidence in what Trump says about his predecessors.
Non -evangelical white Protestants and white Catholics are much more divided, with 51% in each group approving the work that Trump does.
These figures are lower than those in February, but they show strong continuous loyalty to Trump despite all the political and economic turbulence during the first three months of Trump's second term.
On the other hand, the majorities of black Protestants (85%), Hispanic Catholics (73%) and religiously unresolved adults (74%) – people who describe themselves as atheists, agnostics or “nothing interesting” – say they disapprove of how Trump manages his presidency.
These religious patterns largely reflect the partisan differences. White evangelicals identify massively as a republican, as are the smallest majorities of Protestants and non -evangelical white Catholics.
On the other hand, most black Protestants, Hispanic Catholics and religiously not affiliated adults are democrats or democratic self -employed.
In addition to approving the work that Trump does, 57% of white evangelical Protestants say they trust what he says more than what the previous presidents said during their mandate. 23% additional say they trust Trump's words about the same as those of the previous presidents, while 19% say they have less confidence in what Trump says.
White and white Catholic Protestants not divided are roughly divided in terms of confidence in Trump's words. About four in ten in each group say they trust Trump more that the preceding presidents, while at almost the same part say that they trust him less.
The majorities of black Protestants (65%) and adults religiously not affiliated (64%) say that they trust that Trump says less than in relation to the previous presidents in office.
The number of evangelicals in the United States is not clear. According to the traditional estimate, they represent around 85 million, a quarter of the population. But this number could be exaggerated, because new research sounds the alarm on the potential influence of the discoloration of evangelical Christianity in America.
A recent study by Arizona Christian University revealed that only 10% of American adults identify as evangelical – a figure significantly lower than previous estimates.
Evangelicals are a diversified group from various horizons, including non -denominational churches, Pentecostals, Baptists, Reformed, Methodist, Mennonite, the brothers of Plymouth and Quaker.

Evangelicals are often defined in opposition to traditional Protestants. According to sociologist Brian Steensland, “evangelical confessions have generally sought a broader separation of wider culture, emphasized missionary activity and individual conversion and taught strict membership in particular religious doctrines”.
Traditional Protestants are described by contrast as having “an accommodating position towards modernity, a proactive point of view on questions of social and economic justice and pluralism in their tolerance of various individual beliefs”.
