The jobs of tomorrow will require much more than technical knowledge. While industries are transformed at the speed of the chain, accelerated by AI, automation and other technological progress, many students today will enter careers that do not yet exist.
Preparing them for this reality requires that educators focus on more than simply meeting academic benchmarks or preparing for the next standardized test. It requires promoting critical thinking, collaboration, communication skills and, perhaps above all, confidence –Characteristics that many employers say they lack among today's graduates.
In Eastern Hancock, this preparation begins by creating opportunities for students to connect their learning to real world applications. We also know that when students have earlier access to STEM learning and concepts, they are more inclined to pursue a STEM -focused career, such as IT and engineering. Students in PLTW programs attack significant problems as competent contributors, such as prototype design to solve environmental problems, exploration of biomedical innovations and application problems such as cybersecurity and information security.
Preparation, however, is more than offering opportunities. Many students reject the career paths because they do not have the assurance to be thrived in these roles. Eastern Hancock and PLTW both work to break down these obstacles – students who have enabled self -esteem, to explore new possibilities and develop confidence in the chosen fields that they may have considered out of reach.

While students are at the heart of these changes, educators are the engine of their engine. For many teachers, however, change may seem overwhelming, even threatening. The resistance to new approaches often stems from a fear of non-registence or a lack of preparation.
