“ Proud Day '' as a new memorial of the veteran unveiled

A memorial for people who have lost their lives since the Second World War were revealed after a huge community effort.

THE Commemorative structure in Severn BeachNear Bristol, has been made of documents given with the help of local mason to honor the military staff who have lost their lives in the past 80 years.

A group of veterans collected funds for the Memorial because they thought that the Arboretum of the National Memorial in the Staffordshire was too far away.

Patrick Jackson, who started collection of funds, said: “It's been a long time. We had a lot of problems, but we finally achieved what we have targeted. I am very proud to be here for that.”

It is made of three oak pillars to represent the navy, the army and the air force.

“Most of the documents were provided by local businessmen and we have received a lot of help from people from the village,” said Jackson.

“We want to make people aware that there are people who have made their doors in the country.”
