A quick study: Carr started dancing at the age of 4. It attributes to tennis and piano training as contributors to its rapid progression through Madd Rhythms programs. He was a member of the Senior company before obtaining his secondary school diploma. “One thing I have learned is to identify the fire,” explains the artistic director Bron Barrett. “I knew that Andrew had it.”
Mixed life: Currently a student at DEPAUL University, Carr manages its schedule meticulously. Everything – from his school choice to the classroom and the major – is at the service of dance. “With a marketing diploma, I had the impression that it would allow me to defend myself professionally and to conclude in different spaces that I might not have locked in my career yet,” explains Carr. “Even with my minor in sociology, it is understanding and navigating in these spaces, I infiltrate with my tap and my artistic talent.”
A musician first: Carr choreographer his first complete concert for the top of the Chicago 2024 TAP in October. Outside the office: Carr likes action movies and comics, intentionally planning school time and dancing to spend time with his friends. “There is this me and my friends did it – it's like a garage with a sofa and a bunch of tap boards,” he said. “We are going to spend time and dance, play cards and spend time with each other. Quality time is something that I appreciate. ”
