I am ashamed to admit that I really realized William Kentridge last summer when I saw posters for his film, Self -portrait like coffeeEverywhere in Venice. Although his name is familiar, I knew his work less. I certainly did not know that he was widely recognized as the greatest living artist in South Africa. I loved the drawing of the Silver Moka pot. A replica of the same pot in which I make my daily coffee, the self -portrait of Kentridge quickly captured my heart.
The Kentridge Venice exhibition was the precursor of a very productive period: it organizes two exhibitions this year. The first, A natural story of the studiowill open at the New York gallery in Hauser & Wirth; The second, Attraction of severityto the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Kentridge's creative interests are large -scale and large -scale: he also works on Monteverdi production Orpheus This will play Glyndebourne in 2026. The work in progress is all evident in all his house and his studio in the north of Johannesburg, where Monica Mark, the FT“S Bureau of South South Africa, I met him for our cover interview. Kentridge is prodigious in its exit: now 70, it still houses a constraint to create. As he tells Monica on tea and mango: “The most difficult part of being an artist is that you must have a gap, you must have a lack. If you are satisfied – if you are well like yourself – then you can simply continue your life.”

Grace Wales Bonner is also protecting in its production: The fashion designer founded her homonymous brand 11 years ago and brought a world of interest to it, including poetry, art conservation, exhibitions and musical events. I interviewed Wales Bonner in 2016, shortly after receiving the LVMH Prize. Then only 25 years, she had a rare insurer and a goal. And, a decade later, it continues to occupy a rare position, interpreting luxury in almost academic collections that have recovered black identity while exploiting contemporary ideas that feel both relevant and fresh. A large part of its success occurred by its continuous relationship with Adidas, the sports brand whose fortune was revitalized in part thanks to collaborations such as its own. Did Grace Wales Bonner save Adidas with her faced the samba? She would never take credit, but she certainly put it on the right track.

Is Kirsty Wark a national treasure? The broadcaster, writer and longtime Newsnight The presenter definitively obtains my vote. She is not obsolete, curious, a champion of talent, a fashion ambassador and, above all, a big fan of this magazine. This week, she offers us a guide in GlasgowA city she has known since she visited her like a little girl. I love his writing, which mixes affectionate nostalgia for his institutions with affable enthusiasm for his inevitable change.

Finally, would you plan to do a roti canai? Plasted and soft flat bread, served as street food in Malaysia, is better illustrated in the United Kingdom by Sugen Gopal, better known as Roti King. I took a look at her complete
10- (or was it 13?) Point guide, with his calls to slap, to rest and to applaud the rotis, and decided that it was a skill without will. Most experts agree that the manufacture of roti is “too difficult” for the most accomplished bakers, but Our culinary writer Ajesh Patalay has a crack nevertheless. The results may seem disastrous – but he obtains the first effort price. In addition, he assures us, when they are immersed in curry, they had a “brilliant” taste.
