The penitentiary service will examine whether the front line staff should receive a body of protective against the body after an attack on the officers by Manchester Bumper Hachem Abedi, said the Secretary of Justice.

Justice secretary Shabana Mahmood said: “I share the country's shock and anger at the attack on our prison guards at HMP Frankland last weekend.
“It is clear that there are other questions to answer, and more to do.
“For this reason, we make an independent review in these events.
“It will examine how it could have happened and what we have to do to better protect our prisoners in the future.
“This review will specifically examine this attack, but also more broadly how separation centers are executed.”
The Lord Chancellor added: “The penitentiary service will also carry out an instant examination to find out if a protective armor should be made available to the front line personnel.”
The exam should report its conclusions in the coming months.
Mahmood also said that there would be an audit on the completion of 230 recommendations from 19 journals on extremism in prisons.
