Nora AUNOR, who has become one of the largest stars in Philippine cinema during a career that lasted seven decades, died.
AUNOR died Wednesday, April 16, according to publications on the social networks of her children. She was 71 years old. No other details on the cause or place of his death was immediately given.
Philippin actor Lotlot de León said on Instagram That his mother “touched the generations with his talent, his grace and his passion unequaled for the machine. His voice, his presence and his artistic talent have shaped a heritage that will never fade. ”
De León said that funeral plans and other details will be shared later.
AUNOR, née Nora Cabaltera Villamayor in a poor family in Eastern camarines in the province, sold water in a station in her hometown in her youth. She first acquired a reputation in adolescence as a singer in the 1960s before moving on to the films. She raised more than 200 credits in cinema and television which included many classics of Philippin cinema, and won dozens of actor prizes.
Memorable roles have increased Tatlong Tatlong Tatlong Taong Walang God (three years old without God), the construction of the city prison of 1984 (Flowers of the City Prison) and The Flor Contemplacion Story from 1995.
She swept the prices of the best actress in the country for her performance in Andrea, Paano Ba Ang Maging Isang IN? (Andrea, what is it to be a mother?) And won the best actress in the Asian Film Awards for her representation of a midwife in Thy Womb of 2012.
AUNOR was still acting as recently as last year, with the film Mananambal (The Healer) and appearing in the television series Lilet Matias, lawyer.
AUNOR was appointed national artist for the arts of cinema and dissemination – The greatest honor of the country for actors – In 2022. In 2014, the president of the time, Benigno Aquino III, refused him the honor due to a previous drug arrest in the United States, causing a large outcry.
AUNOR lawyer said 2005's arrest at Los Angeles airport had come because of a pipe found in a bag that she had not wrapped, noting that she was traveling with four assistants at the time. The charges were abandoned in 2007 after finishing a diversion program, his lawyer said in 2014.
AUNOR was married to actor Christopher de León from 1975 to 1996.
She is survived by their children Lotlet, Ian, Matet, Kiko and Kenneth de León.
