Beijing (AP) – In a small stage for the robot, thousands of them, really – humanoid robots ran alongside real humans in half a -marathon in the Chinese capital on Saturday.

The bipedal robots of various brands and sizes sailed on the course of 21.1 kilometers (13.1 miles) supported by teams of human browsers, operators and engineers, in the events that the organizers say they are a first. As a precaution, a divider separated the parallel lessons used by robots and people.

While participants in the flesh and blood followed the conventional rules, the 20 teams aligning the machines in the half-marathon of the humanoid robot contributed according to tailor-made directives, which included battery stand stops.
