The new galleries of David Geffen of the County Museum of Los Angeles will become a sound ship at the end of June when the composer and jazz musician nominated at Grammy Washington mucusJoined by a set of more than 100 musicians, will make a series of shows inside the new building designed by Peter Zumthor.
The artists will be dispersed on the 110,000 square feet of gallery space, and the building itself will become an integral part of the acoustic experience, said the museum. Washington should interpret his suite from six movements, “Harmony of Different”, a conceptual album that was reported on criticism in 2017. Many musicians who join him are artists based in Los Angeles that Washington has played over the years.
The performances – on June 26, 27 and 28 – will mark the first time that the continuation is played in its entirety in front of an audience live, and music is supposed to take place as a work of art, in a way that cannot be reproduced again.
“The Geffen galleries have a really unique acoustic environment which is perfect for” the harmony of the difference “”, said Washington in the announcement. “While people cross the galleries, they will directly hear the musicians with which they are closest, while hearing the” spirit “of other groups.”
Washington's appearances are the first many events leading to the opening of the building in April 2026.
Tickets for shows will be sold for three dates. The first performance will be on sale on May 2 at 10 a.m. The next performance will be on sale on May 22 at 10 a.m. The final performance will be on sale on June 12 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $ 48 to $ 100.
From June 29 to July 6, LACMA members will be invited to visit the building before the installation of art.
