Canaveral Cape, Florida (AP) – just over a day After explodingA SpaceX crew capsule arrived at the international space station on Sunday, offering replacements for NASA Two stuck astronauts.
The four new arrivals – representing the United States, Japan and Russia – will spend the coming days to learn the ins and outs of the station Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams. Then, the two are attached to their own SpaceX capsule later this week, one that has been up there since last year, to close an unexpected prolonged mission that started last June.
Wilmore and Williams should only have left for a week when they started on Boeing's first astronaut flight. They reached the brand nine months earlier this month.
The Boeing Starliner capsule has encountered so many problems that NASA insisted that it came back empty, leaving its test pilots behind to wait for a space facelift.
Their journey arrived at the end of September with a reduced crew of two and two empty seats reserved for the leg. But more delays have resulted when the brand new capsule of their replacements needs in -depth battery repairs. An older capsule has taken its place, raising its return from a few weeks to mid-March.
The weather permits, the SpaceX capsule carrying Wilmore, Williams and two other astronauts will find the space station as soon as possible on Wednesday and will shirk the coast of Florida.
