Jakarta: The authorities investigated two cases of food poisoning epidemics that affected more than 170 students in the ambitious nutrients, the most recent, the last of the known cases since the launch of the program in January.
The national project – which is one of the key promises of the president of President Prabowo SUBIANTO – aims to stimulate the quality of long -term human resources by improving nutrition in children's meals and promoting better educational results.
A recent and widely reported incident took place in the Regency of Cianjur de West Java, where at least 165 students were admitted to the hospital for food poisoning after consuming free meal packages last Monday (April 21), local media reported.
“We made checks on two schools which had 972 students in total, of which 165 were sick,” the head of disease prevention and control of the West Java health office, Rochady Hendra, quoted by Derik de News Outlet.
A 16 -year -old student in Islamic Senior Har 1 secondary school in Cianjur said he had noticed a “bad smell” from grated chicken, one of the dishes served in the nutritious meal program on Monday morning last week.
“A few hours after eating it, I started to feel dizzy and vomit,” said M Raihan, 16, tempo.
On Thursday, Kompas reported that 78 students from the two schools – Man 1 Cianjur State Islamic Senior High School and SMP PGRI 1 Cianjur Junior High School – had shown symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea after consuming meal packages.
The high number of patients due to food poisoning has forced the agency administration to declare the state of emergency in the region, according to the Jakarta Post.
The Java West Health Agency has analyzed certain food samples of the kitchen and vomiting patients to assess the contamination of microbes possible while the Cianjur health agency has suspended the production of meals in the kitchen service units that produced free nutrient meals.
“The results of the laboratory tests (for a possible contamination by microbe) have not yet been published,” the National Nutrition Agency, the head of the National Agency Hindayana said on Monday when he has given the latest updates.
Dadan also said that the exact cause of the incident was not clear and was still the subject of an investigation.
Previously, he had also said that training and a recycling course would be given to food managers to improve their skills, as cited in Jakarta Post.
He also said that plastic food trays used in the packaging of free nutritious meals may have contributed to food poisoning experienced by the 165 students.
