Michael Conlan supports Anthony Caccace to stop Leigh Wood when the two super-plume weights meet this weekend.
The world champion IBO COCACE will defend his title against Wood at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Saturday. Conlan is no stranger to one or the other of the fighters, having fought with the club in recent weeks and Having lost against Wood after a brutal battle in 2022.
Now Conlan thinks that “Anto” will prove too much for its former opponent.

Conlan said The independent: “I think that Anto wins, and I think he wins by Knockout, for a few simple reasons. Anto at the minute is to climb on the crest of the wave. He was very active, looks good, and he has just won his world title. He has not undergone a lot of damage throughout his career.”
He continued: “He had good fights, but he was not very active throughout his career before the last year. Leigh has not fought since October 2023. His last fight was against Josh Warrington, which I think he lost until he obtained KO.”
The latest breaker fight also came against Warrington, the dominant Irishman for a victory in unanimous in September of last year. Nicknamed “Apache”, his stock increased considerably after having shocked Joe Cordina to win the IBF Super-pum weight title last May, a belt he has since abandoned in order to choose more lucrative fights.
Farm has never been overthrown as a professional, and Conlan does not think that the South was even abandoned to the training.

He said: “I think he has a good chin and in my opinion is the best technical boxer, but he strikes so hard. The chances are in his favor.”
Conlan knows better than most that Wood is capable of digging deeply and finding a knockout, but the fighter born in Belfast thinks that English will not be able to repeat the trick once again.
“Leigh, he has succeeded several times,” he said, “but only so many times you can go to the well, and I don't think it happens this time. He fights a much more frank man.

And Conlan does not think that Leigh's chin is the best. “I am not a huge perforator,” he said. “I can hit hard, but I'm not a huge perforator, and I had Leigh several times in this fight. Anto could hurt him and could take him out. This is what I think I am happening. ”
The fight takes place at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, the territory of origin of Wood.
However, Conlan does not think that home comfort will be enough to swing the fight in favor of Wood.

He said: “It is the kind of fighter who needs fans to lift it from the ground and continue, I suppose, but when I fought it in Nottingham, I thought I was fighting in Ireland because there were a lot of Irish there. The arena was divided in half and I know that many of my fans bought tickets on his page.”
Conlan conceded that, although the late Bloomer Cacace does not make as many supporters in front of Ireland, his compatriot Belfast Boxer will not be disturbed by fighting in hostile conditions.
He said: “Anto will certainly not bring as many fans, because he just happened on stage now where he is a big name after being so inactive. There will be a lot of arena against him. But at the same time, Anto is not this type of guy, he does not need a crowd.”
Conlan also noted that Cuper had fought around the world – from Ireland to Hungary, Saudi Arabia and the United States. “I don't think it will bother him,” said Conlan. “I think he will actually flourish in being in enemy territory and obtaining a victory.”
While Conlan will keep an eye on the Motorpoint Arena procedures, its current objective is to repress itself after losses in the hands of Luis Alberto Lopez and Jordan Gill.
After no fight in 2024, he returned to the ring in March, comfortably sending an awkward client in the form of Asad Asif Khan via a unanimous decision.

“It would always be a development, first fighting after consecutive losses,” said the 33 -year -old man. “Khan is hard and he is durable, and he can be very delicate. It was a good routine victory to return to the horse after two consecutive defeats.”
Conlan is already aiming for a return to Irish later this year, with European honors at stake.
He continued: “My next fight, most likely, will be in Ireland, and will most likely be for the European title.
World amateur champion in 2015, Conlan still houses the ambitions to win a world title in the professional ranks.
“The plan was probably not to go for the European title in my second fight,” he said. “I was probably going to have another warm -up fight, but I thought:” What is the point of this? ” I want to come back to a shot from the world.
