Malaysia army producing military exercise in Johor: report

Singapore: a military exercise will take place in several areas of Johor from May 1 to 13, reported the Malaysian news agency Bernama on Wednesday April 30.

The exercise implies the 21st special forces group and Johor's military force, and will take place around Pengang, Tanjung Gemih, Ramunia Bay and Desaru.

According to a Declaration of the Malaysian army, there will be flights of helicopters, movements of tactical vehicles and “explosive elements”.

“It is advisable to local residents and road users not to panic and comply with all safety instructions during the exercise,” the statement said.

Traffic control measures and roadblocks will be implemented in several places, especially around Teluk Ramunia, from May 1 to 9.

The obstacles will also be installed around the Sungai Johor bridge and the Ferry Terminal on the Côte de Desaru on May 10, followed by a temporary closure on the road on the E22 motorway from 1 a.m. to 3 am on May 11, Bernama reported.

“This exercise is one of the efforts of the Malaysian army to ensure the preparation for any possible terrorist threat to national sovereignty,” the statement said as indicated by Bernama.

“Public members are invited not to disseminate any undeclared information concerning this exercise.”
