To the publisher: Although I appreciate that there is a diversity of opinion on transgender women in sport, I am scandalized by the silence of Governor Gavin Newsom and too many others, because the transgender people have been subject to the most complete assault since Jim Crow Day on human and constitutional rights of a group of Americans (“Newsom says that the trans athletes participating in female sports are” deeply unfair “, March 6).
Imagine that you are transgender and face, on a national scale or in certain states:
- Be obliged to break the law or risk harassment, stop or even attack when using a public bathroom.
- Remember the right to be treated by the name you choose.
- Be expelled from the American army.
- Seeing yourself access to health care that is the norm of care, even as an adult.
- Refusing, in Iowa, protection against employment, housing, education, public services and more because you are trans.
- Being required to list your sexual relations on birth on your passport and your driving license, which removes you as a transgender to everyone, which could best cause delays when you travel.
- Be unable to freely access books on yourself and people like you at the public library.
- The refusal of your very existence by the federal government and all the references to people like you have been withdrawn from government websites.
The anti-Trans campaign is not a cultural war. It is a battle for civil rights. For years, government intimidators have tested various forms of legal persecution on transgender Americans to see what they can get away with it. (So far, a lot) and Newsom, as well as far too many other Americans, panic a handful of transgender athletes? Please wake up.

To the publisher: Trans people are not “poor” who deserve or seek the pity of the governor or anyone. They wish to live like everyone else – without prohibitions, harassment or institutionalized cruelty. The source of the problems of trans people arises in hard bigotry of the Maga crowd and the sweet bigotry of political sales like Newsom.

To the publisher: Trump wrote in his executive decree, “The adoption of a gender identity incompatible with the sex of an individual with the commitment of a soldier to an honorable, truthful and disciplined lifestyle. “This is only another example of Trump's habit to give his own failures to the people he does not know but decided that he does not like.

To the editor: As a liberal of the bleeding heart, I say not to allow transgender athletes to participate in the sports of girls and women. I grew up as a student in the Lausd. I am now 88 years old. I loved playing sports and in competition. Do again! Sports have established friendships and my competitive spirit in athletics helped me cross difficult university times. Allowing TRANS athletes to participate in female professional sports would bring their destiny.

To the editor: The obsession of President Trump and the defense secretary Pete Hegseth for transgender problems is only a distraction of their machinations intended to limit democracy and allow them to pay less taxes and stay in power.
