To the editor: Excellent chronicle of Mark Z. Barabak about the presidential prospects of Governor Gavin Newsom nevertheless neglects his most vulnerable Achilles heel: the twin blades of roaming and housing costs (“If Gavin Newsom wants to be president, he has work to do – from the house”, “ May 8). He was six years old and a legislative supermajure to start and I cannot, for the life of me, see the progress of one or the other front. Senator Adam Schiff recently urged Democrats to be the party that solves the nation's housing shortage, an exhortation of which I approve of all my heart. But if Newsom couldn't do it here, why would he devil someone think he can do it at the national level?
